Process

1.

In my first draft I started by removing the darts from the trouser sloper and absorbing the excess into one big pleat ending around the knee at the side seam, and lowering the waist.

2.

I slashed and spread to create a second pleat hidden underneath the larger pleat to give more room around the thighs. I lengthened the legs and the opening of the pockets. I also added a J-fly and later drafted a contour waistband.

Working from a pattern made by my teammate with the mandarin collar and hidden button placket, I added the side slit an sleeve placket as well as shortening the mandarin collar to meet at center front.
